ReadME first
------------
Every tool, program, piece of software has its own Readme First, so I
decided to have one.
I wrote this readme_first to thank the author of T-mail (Andy Elkin),
my Boss on node 5030/124 (Dmitry Osipov) and all those of you who will
use it more than twice.
What is it??
------------
T-Mail OutBound Manager (TMOM) is a tool which allows T-mail users to
check the contents of the bundles when T-mail operates in BT_like mode.
If the bundle is a ?LO file you can see also the contents of each .pkt
by means of your favourite tool (E.g. I use Shez)
If the bundle is a ?UT file you can see the its contents by means of
your favourite browser.
If the bundle is a F/REQ or a F/Attach file you can see a list of all
requested files.
TMOM allows you to change the attributes of a bundle, erase it or erase
a .pkt inside the bundle.
How much does it cost?
----------------------
It costs nothing, it is FREEWARE, I don't want anything. I wrote it to
keep me busy during my wet holidays.
If you want to mail me, of course I'll be very happy for that.
HW requirements
---------------
A normal PC. Obviously, the more RAM you have, the better the tool works.
SW requirements
---------------
I wrote and tested the source using a DOS task under OS/2 Warp, so I think
it works fine also under pure DOS. I'm using DOS 6.2, but since there are
not strange DOS calls or operations, I think it should work also under
other DOS versions.
How to install
--------------
Unpack the file you downloaded from your favourite BBS. Copy
T-queue.exe and T-queue.ctl to the directory where T-mail is,
since T-mail uses this filename to call the external outbound manager.
Edit T-queue.Ctl according to your needs.
The only rule to follow is to write your preferences starting from
column 10.
Configuration file
------------------
;
; T-Mail OutBound Manager
;
TmCtl C:\T-MAIL\T-Mail.ctl ; T-Mail.ctl path
Warning Yes ; Yes/No
PKTView c:\com_scom\shez.exe ; Pkt Viewer
Viewer c:\com_scom\list.com ; Browser
;Mono Yes ; Comment out if you have a color
; monitor
How it works
------------
In my opinion the tool works fine, but if you don't agree, let me know.
T-queue receives the address from T-mail, checks t-mail.ctl to find the
nodelist and outbound paths, shows the main files for the selected address
and waits for your commands. A top bar shows you the available commands.
Pressing F1 gives you a short help.
By pressing <Enter> on a bundle you will see the its contents. Moving right
whith the arrow key and pressing <Enter> again will call the external tool
you defined in T-queue.ctl
Top bar allows you to get help (Key H), to see inside the bundles (Key I),
to select among four options (Key O).
In the Option menu you can select among following facilities:
- Key <D> or key <Del> delete the whole bundle or part of it.
Important: it is not possible to delete a part of a multiple F/req,
but it is possible to delete a .pkt inside a bundle
- Key <A> has been introduced to change the flavours of the bundle. It has
to be noticed that the change will affect only the first letter of the
extension. It means that a .DLO file cannot be changed in a .OUT file,
but only in those of the group .?LO.
- Key <R> has been introduced to re-address a bundle to another point,
node of the same or different net.
- Key <H> has been introduced to see the recent connections with the node
under examination. It's, basically the same view you have by pressing
the combination Alt-I while T-Mail is waiting for a call or event.
- Key <L> has been introduced to see the log file for the node under
examination. It is a simple unpretentious log viewer. If you want
more informations, use a pro log analyzer :-)
If you deleted a bundle or part of it, or if you changed a flavour, when
you leave the tool, a warning message will remember you to make T-mail
re-read the whole outbound directories.
That's all, folks!!
Error Levels
------------
A lot of errorlevels have been introduced in TMOM, but only for debugging
purpose, so don't take care of them.
In next versions only two errorlevels will be left, while the bunch of
error messages will stay.
The future
----------
I plan to prepare an OS/2 version, a log file and other things you need.
Most important, I will try to integrate BT_like and ArcMail.
How to contact the author
-------------------------
I have three FidoNet addresses, so you can write me a mail using one
of them. I will appreciate every kind of message, even if you want to
tell me to spend my free time in another way.
I will appreciate reports on bugs, enhancements, suggestions and so on
My addresses are:
Stefano Zano 2:5030/124.4205 <- Users with T-mail areas linked
2:332/420.4205
2:332/437.4205
Don't tell me that I haven't fantasy in selecting the point number :-))
That's all, Folk!!!!
